Class Descriptions

Gentle Hatha/Flow - This is the perfect class for beginners and experienced yogis who prefer a slower, gentler approach to the the practice. A strong focus on breath, alignment and fluidity of movement combines with an emphasis on quieting and focusing the mind. Students are encouraged to explore deeply their unique body structures and to tailor the practice to individual needs. Hatha yoga postures are gracefully practiced in intelligent sequences. Benefits include physical and mental strength, flexibility and balance.

Mixed Level Hatha/Flow - This invigorating class combines the disciplined alignment principles of Hatha Yoga with the intelligent fluidity of Vinyasa Flow. Some yoga experience is recommended but anyone with a relatively high fitness level can attend. The benefits are boundless!

Mixed Level Hatha Yoga - Hatha Yoga refers to the practice of physical yoga postures, known as asanas in Sanskrit. In this mixed level class we take our time in each posture and focus on alignment, efficient movement of breath, and clarity of intention. We practice a variety of asanas performed standing, sitting, and lying on the floor. The effect is a stronger, more flexible, more balanced body, mind and spirit. While not for the complete novice, this class is suitable for most levels of fitness and yoga experience. Appropriate modifications are made to all poses, depending on the experience and ability of the practitioner.

PRIME Yoga - For beginners over the age of 50. Increase vitality and prolong your ability to be active and injury free! This special class for the "over 50" set will heighten your body intelligence, strengthen your resolve, improve your physical and mental flexibility, and bring balance to your busy life. With an emphasis on correct postural alignment and principles of efficient movement, this class will keep you going and growing with a spring in your step and a smile on your face.  (Check "Workshops & Special Events" for scheduled classes.)

Restorative Yoga with Poetry & Music - Start and end your week by soothing your soul with an effortless yoga practice, inspiring poetry and beautiful music. Restorative yoga poses require no effort and bring great benefits to your nervous system, your organ body, your mind and your spirit. If you've never tried it now is the time. This class is the perfect antidote to the many stressors we are facing these days. 

Shakti Yoga for Women -
Taught by a pair of experienced yoga teachers on alternate evenings, this study of yoga philosophy, meditation, and physical practice is designed to stretch and strengthen mind, body and spirit.
