Marie Reed RYT
...found yoga serendipitously two decades ago and became truly
inspired by hatha yoga practice after taking
several workshops with John Friend in the 1990s. Following her heart, she
completed a year-long training at Willow
Street's Yoga Teacher Training Program in the Anusara tradition, and now teaches beginning,
intermediate and gentle yoga classes. Marie loves to help her students
understand the structural "why" of hatha
yoga and inspires confidence in her students as they learn to move safely,
protect their joints, and grow strong. Her classes are often filled with
laughter, as students play and explore their edges. Marie's heart-centered
focus helps students connect with their deepest intentions, integrating
body, mind, and breath with spirit. She is deeply
grateful to her primary Anusara teachers Jenny
Otto and Joe Miller, as well as to Heather Schwartz (Anusara),
Judith Semark (Kripalu),
Rod Stryker (Pure Yoga) and many fine teachers at Unity Woods (Iyengar).
Elizabeth Shahan
... found her interest in health and fitness in the late 60s
when she joined the burgeoning jogging craze and continued over the decades
as she taught aerobics and weight training for recreation departments and
in health clubs. Older and wiser, she became aware of the science of
healing qigong and qigong exercise in 2005 and immediately realized the
benefits of this gentle exercise technique that not only tones and relaxes
the body, but calms the mind as well. In the fall of 2006, she immersed
herself in a month-long certification training at
the Omega Institute with Dr. Roger Janhke.
Planning to teach qigong as part of her "retirement career," she
has heeded signals from the Universe and "quit her day job" to
establish Elemental Energies (elementalenergies.net).
She is grateful to Dee and her students at Inner Reaches for allowing her
share the benefits of qigong.
